What’s changed for Lantern Festival 2021?
Auckland Lantern Festival 2021 will look a little different next year. Key changes this year include a new waterfront venue, addition of a lunch and dinner session times, and a new category for retail/non-food stallholders.
New lunch and dinner session times:
The Lantern Festival will continue to be a free family friendly event and in 2021 we will introduce two public sessions each day: lunch and dinner. This will offer longer trading times for stallholders.
Stalls will operate over three days and four evenings, from Thursday 25 – Sunday 28 February. There will be an interval of 90 minutes between lunch and dinner for restocking and a break.

Guidance for stallholders and a new craft artisan category:
Stall sites will be available for food and retail, or to promote community organisations and businesses.
For the 2021 festival, we will be continuing our focus on phasing out plastic from the festival. We will be favouring stalls that sell locally produced products with longer lifespans that help us celebrate Lantern Festival and showcase Chinese culture and support the Chinese community.
We will also be introducing a new category for local craft artists to sell their own handmade products.
If you have any questions about the changes for stallholders this year, please contactstallholder@aucklandnz.com
ATEED is proud to deliver the Lantern Festival on behalf of Auckland Council and in conjunction with the Asia New Zealand Foundation.
The Lantern Festival will be delivered in line with Government guidelines and advice at the time of the event.
We look forward to working with our stallholders as we work towards an exciting future for the Lantern Festival.
Ngā mihi
The Auckland Lantern Festival 2021 team.
