创造就业机会是下一届工党政府工作重点

下一届工党政府将整合商家、员工及地方政府和中央政府力量，建立一个旨在创造就业机会的有效机制。这是工党领袖大卫•康立夫（Hon David Cunliffe）在访问 Shannon镇时表示的。
位于北帕市西北的Shannon小镇人口只有1,200，但因为国家党政府的政策所致，一下子就导致本周86人失业。与此同时在Rotorua的一家工厂，本周120人丢了工作。对这些小镇和靠工作糊口的普通家庭来说，他们和家人的生活将面临挑战。
工党领袖表示，就全国区域性经济发展来看，国家党政府没有起到领导作用，其政策存在重大缺口，这些普遍民众得不到关注只能靠自己去挣扎。“但工党领导的政府将和他们一道打拼。”
“国家党政府已经放弃了发展区域经济，而我们将会和业主一道，和社区一道共同创造就业机会。” 工党领袖还说 “将社区、商家、工人和政府的力量整合，我们共同努力才能找到办法解决当地就业问题。”

Labour stands with job loss communities
A Labour Government will establish Community Task Forces of business, workers, locals and government to develop new opportunities for skilled workers when major job losses such as those at Shannon occur.
“Every week we see major job losses hitting a region hard and workers forced to leave. These communities are being hollowed out,” Labour Leader David Cunliffe said from Shannon today.
“Already this week we’ve seen 120 jobs go at Rotorua’s Tachikawa mill and 86 jobs go at the Shannon fellmongery, where I visited workers today.
“The people of Shannon are doing their best, but losing 86 jobs out of a population of just 1200 is too much for them to cope with on their own.
“There is a massive gap in leadership and no one is working with them. This Government says the workers should move to Auckland, meanwhile leaving those communities to fend for themselves. A Labour-led Government will not. We will work with them.
“Labour will fight tooth and nail to stop jobs going. But when a major closure or redundancy can’t be stopped Labour will stand with the local community, creating a Community Task Force to help those workers in the region.
“By bringing together the local community, business, workers and government we can work together and develop solutions to keep people in the area.
“National has given up on the regions. Labour hasn’t. We need to work with and empower communities to create opportunities for skilled workers,” David Cunliffe says.
